After-School Shakespeare
Since 2004, Epic worked with the students and teachers of Chelsea Vocational High School in after-school Shakespeare productions. These productions feature students working alongside professional actors, designers and directors. The final scripts weave Shakespeare's language with original student writing.
Past Shakespeare productions:
Othello: I am not what I am Epic thanks LANCÔME and CREATIVE ARTISTS AGENCY for their funding support of these productions. "I never knew I was capable of doing a fight scene. To be honest I really didn't think it was going to be such an important part of Tybalt's character. I was amazed to see the teaching artist's ability and passion for theatrical scene fighting. I then knew that since you had confidence in me I began to have confidence in myself." |
Michael Bloomberg, Mayor of New York City December 2002: "Your Antigone-In-Progress program has been a strong source of support for many students and I thank you for your tremendous efforts. It is always a pleasure to unite with people and organizations that are committed to improving the quality of life for our City's youth and to enhancing the arts community." |
