Bronx High School for Writing and Communication Arts (BHSWCA)
In 2004, Epic co-founded the Bronx High School for Writing and Communication Arts (BHSWCA), a New Visions school located in the Evander Childs High School Complex. Epic Theatre Ensemble is the lead cultural partner at the Bronx High School for Writing and Communication Arts. As lead partner, Epic is central to the daily operations and programming at the school. Epic's sequential arts learning program includes Journeys programs (Antigone-in-Progress, Fuente Ovejuna) as well college advisory and after-school arts programs. Students from BHSWCA assist Epic Artists in the summer theatre program at the Northeast Independent Living Program in Lawrence, Massachusetts. "Being a police officer I should know to respect the law. But what should I do when the laws, are rules that should not be followed. Laws that consequence your actions; for doing what is right." |
Michael Bloomberg, Mayor of New York City December 2002: "Your Antigone-In-Progress program has been a strong source of support for many students and I thank you for your tremendous efforts. It is always a pleasure to unite with people and organizations that are committed to improving the quality of life for our City's youth and to enhancing the arts community." |
