"I can't think of a more noble, more vital contribution than what Epic does. The nurturing, the awakening of hearts and minds of the young people they work with. I don't think there's a greater gift to our world today"
-- David Strathairn at Epic's 2006 Gala

Epic in Schools

At Epic Theatre Ensemble, we believe that plays are ideally suited for helping students explore the connection between politics and their personal lives. Our education programs use theatre to foster empathy, create civic dialogue, and empower student voices in their communities and beyond.

During in depth residencies in English and History classrooms in the NYC Public Schools, Epic works with classroom teachers to guide students in the exploration of the relationship between individuals and their society. Working with Epic Teaching Artists, students write and perform theatre productions that inspire and awaken civic engagement.
